Meet the director of the film, "Guards," Erin Regan (not pictured).

How would you describe your film and the inspiration behind it?
"Guards" is a comedy about two security guards who begin their new jobs at a quiet apartment complex, and how they find ways to occupy the mundane hours of the night. The security guards that watched over my apartment complex on weekend nights inspired the subject of this film; with not much to do and with a lot of time to kill, two security guards are able to spice up the monotony with a partner in crime.
What has been your favorite part of working on this project?
My favorite part about working on this film has been the crew! We have a fun team, and enthusiastic and comical actors.
What was it like working collaboratively with the rest of the team?
Working with a good team makes the project go smoothly.
What films have been the most inspiring or influential to you and why?
The most inspiring films to me have been Pulp Fiction (classic), Call Me By Your Name, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and City Lights. I love the diversity of styles, the inspiration of using thematic and simple methods, the use of bright colors, over-extended conversation, and palpably uncomfortable silence. I love that these movies don't lead the audience to conclusions with work- these films challenge the audience, and provoke intense emotions.
Based on your experience making this film, what is one piece of advice you have for first time filmmakers?
For first time filmmakers, and especially directions: stay organized and have a vision. It is imperative to be able to be flexible, but having a vision for where you want each scene to go and how you want it to look is essential to having the team work effectively and for each person to know their part to play. Rock on!
Check out, "Guards," and seven more awesome short films, Wednesday March 14th at the Palm Theater at 7pm. Free for students!
